Ancestral health is all about eating and living
in the more natural ways of our ancestors.
It’s about eating whole foods that haven’t been processed or altered by modern manufacturing. These real foods nourish our entire body. They regulate our metabolism, improve digestion, feed our gut microbiome, provide more efficient, sustained energy and support our bodies in burning fat. So, what kind of food are we talking about? Basically it’s a wide variety of meats, poultry and fish, eggs, colorful vegetables and fruits, herbs and spices, healthy fats like olive oil, grass fed butter, avocado and coconut oil, nuts, and seeds. Simple, delicious, nutritious, real food.
We live in a culture that makes it increasingly difficult to eat foods
that are healthful for our bodies and minds.
We are surrounded by ultra-processed food-like substances, essentially artificial, manufactured foods with ingredients known to cause inflammation, the widely recognized precursor to a broad array of chronic conditions and diseases.
When we eat like our ancestors (grandparents, great-grandparents and their forebears), it means eating real, whole foods from nature. It’s the difference between eating the real foods that nature produces versus the highly processed, artificial foods that humans manufacture.
You may have had grandparents and great-grandparents that had a garden where they grew vegetables, herbs or fruits. They may even have bought eggs, meat or dairy from local farmers. You don’t need to cultivate a garden or be a farmer yourself but the type of food you choose to eat makes an incredible difference in your health and how you feel. It is now becoming easier to buy fresh, whole foods at grocery and health food stores, local farms and farmers markets.

The source of the food we eat has a direct effect on how nutritious it is for us, how our bodies absorb and digest it and the overall effect on our wellbeing.
