The way I help clients learn new things and make positive life changes is to meet them where they are in the moment, wherever that may be.
Life throws us a lot of challenges, some of which are out of our control.
Sometimes we wonder how we ended up where we are and it can all just feel overwhelming. We find ourselves asking questions like,
“What do I do?” “How can I change this?”
We certainly don’t lack for information in trying to answer these questions. We live in a world where we are overloaded with information. It can be very frustrating. At times, it may feel like there’s simply too much conflicting information to make good choices for ourselves and our families.
What I do in working with people seeking to make improvements in their health, is guide them with personalized support in natural and holistic ways of living. It’s a move away from the Standard American Diet (SAD) filled with processed, packaged, artificial and manufactured “foods” high in sugar and a move toward healthier, real, whole foods. This has commonly come to be known as ancestral health, which is really just a way of saying,
Let’s simplify our lives and get back to the healthy foods and lifestyle choices
of our ancestors – our grandparents and great-grandparents.
In doing this together, I can not only help you understand what to do, but more importantly, how to do it consistently for yourself in your daily life. You’ll learn how to make your mind your ally to support you in taking action on your health goals. Along the way, you’ll be gaining the skill you need to turn your positive choices and changes into lifelong habits of health and wellbeing.
Here are some of the ideas I believe are really important in making changes that matter to us.
1. Simple
- It doesn’t have to be complicated.
- Start with where you are, wherever that is for you.
- You can feel better and become healthier without taking a lot of time.
- Easy, no fuss living. (No counting calories, weighing food, tracking points, going to meetings, etc.).
- Be willing to experiment. Try things out. See what works best for you.
2. Small
- One small step at a time over time.
- Baby steps get you where you want to go.
- Be as consistent as possible as you make small changes.
- Do a little at a time each day.
- Intend to move in a positive direction.
- Build a healthy foundation one step at a time.
3. Sustainable
- Your efforts will have positive long term effects.
- Be conscious about your choices.
- Create the kind of habits that actually support you.
- Healthy living is a process developed and tweaked over time.
- Focus on having a vibrant quality of living and a healthy lifespan.
- Keep your goals and dreams in mind.
